The Resonator

The Resonator is a compass that points at rift signals. Without one, finding a rift means wandering; with one, you can head straight for the nearest rift of the tier you want.

Crafting

Surround a Compass with 8 Rift Dust (shaped, 3 by 3). See Items for the recipe layout and Rewards for how to earn Rift Dust.

Tracking

Carry the Resonator in your inventory. It automatically follows the nearest rift signal in your current dimension, and its needle points at it. Hold it to see the tracked rift's tier in the tooltip. You do not need to click anything.

  • It works for rifts that are physically loaded and for hidden signals in terrain that is not loaded yet.
  • It only tracks live rifts. A rift whose timer ran out, or whose incursion is over, is dropped.
  • If no matching rift exists, the needle spins and the Resonator reports "no rift signal in range".
  • It tracks rifts in the dimension you are standing in. A compass cannot point across dimensions.

Pinning a signal

Right-click to pin the nearest rift. The Resonator then stays on that one rift even if a closer one appears later, until you right-click again to release it and return to automatic tracking.

  • A pin survives travelling between dimensions, but the needle cannot point until you return to the pinned rift's dimension.
  • The pin is released automatically if the rift expires or is used up, or if you change the tier filter to one that excludes it.

Tier filter

Sneak and right-click to cycle the minimum tier the Resonator will track. The current filter appears in the tooltip and on the action bar.

Chaotic onlyChaotic rifts only

Pick Volatile+ when you are hunting Apex Tokens, or Chaotic only once you have made a Chaotic rift with an Omen.

Range

By default the Resonator has no range limit, so it finds the nearest signal wherever it is. A server operator can set a maximum range; if so, signals beyond it are ignored. See Configuration.
